Will Avent want to beat Stetson, or would it only matter to the fans?

I bet we get Jonathan Gonzalez from Stetson in game one. 9-2 in 14 starts. 2.26 ERA.

lf both teams submit a proposal, then the NCAA makes the call

"The committee shall review the hosting proposals according to the site selection criteria (e.g., quality and availability of the facility, revenue potential and other available accommodations) to determine the host. If only one of the teams has submitted a proposal, that team shall host if the proposal is acceptable."

Think we know how that would end.

Is this only if the seeding matches? IOW, if we advanced and ECU advanced... would be get it as a 2 vs. 3 seed?

It is complicated and a little weird, but I spoke with folks about this and if both two seeds advance, NC State will travel to Florida.

Is that because of facilities? What are the ranking differences?

Facilities would be one factor, albeit a big one. The NCAA would assess which site makes them more money and can best accommodate the event. In that scenario, NCSU would not have much of a chance against Florida.

How do we feel about Auburn? Haven't paid attention to them at all. Freshman pitchers? Are they really freshmen at this point.

Auburn is a tough draw. We will see Stetson and Auburn top pitchers. Will be tough for us yo make it it out if this regional. Really disappointed we weren't paired up with coastal and ezu.

Avent wants to win EVERY game, but in some situations it is wise to save your pitchers. Remember Geaogia?

Yeah, the Avent shade is pretty ridiculous today, this team has been greatly outperforming their talent level. You are absolutely correct, particularly in a three game series, sometimes punting on a game is the smartest thing you can do. In the regional format, you really want to stay out of the losers bracket, but you can't burn your arms there either if the game is out of hand. We have the pitching to advance, gonna come down to the bats. You don't win many post season games scoring 2-3 runs. I think the guys will be ready.
Just a guy on the sunshine squad.

I can't imagine there's a lot of team confidence (esp batting) heading into this regional.

And that will be Friday May 30th.

Stetson has always had a good baseball program. Old timers like me will remember that Dirk Ewing, a basketball player that played at State and Sanderson High School, transferred to Stetson in 1977.

I get that people are hyper focused on the bats … and with good reason at times but I think that pitching has been as equal of an issue . We gave up how many hits to Clemson?

Also all the talk on these podcasts were Consiglio, Willadsen and D Rock being 3 of your top 6 arms . Getting nothing from those 3 for various reasons .

Man, that's old school right there. 1975-1976 roster names.

Phil Spence and Kenny Carr. Glen Sudhop. Mike Burma.Gary Stoken.

Wish we could have kept Dirk. Freshman class took his minutes during the 1976-1977 season.

Didn't realize NCSU transfer Isaiah Barkett was the star on offense for Stetson. Hit .380, got on base at a .450% clip and stole 30 bases. He also only struck out 8 times in 51 games which is INSANE.
