As bad as it seems we've played this year, we're sitting here 3-1 in ACC series and a game out of third place in the ACC standings.

The bar has been set so high that even good years seem average or below. That's a tribute to the success over the last 20 years.

Incredible comeback today to win the rubber match! Hopefully the pitching smooths out and we can get Sosa going. You can't accuse these guys of not fighting!

We are 6-5. The way you say above makes it sound alike we are taking 9-2 for granted or something. We are off to a decent start - actually a fairly typical start. With that said, everything remains in play for this team.
Actually 7-5

Ok 7-5. Point stands.

We're one game out of third in a super tough conference and it doesn't feel like we are playing this team's best ball. Yes, there are definitely people on here that take that for granted.

Maybe this team is the one that falters down the stretch, but we've got a huge sample size of Pack9 teams, even though those that start slowly, finishing much stronger. There is zero reason to think that this is going to be a disappointing season until it actually becomes one.

Based on past results, the odds are definitely in favor of a good or better season.

Who cares, you are 3-1 in the second hardest confrence and just took 2 out of 3 against a preseason top 5 team.

Six series left, go 3-3 or 4-2 and you end the season fine. For comparison, UNC is 24-8 overall and 8-7 in the ACC (Behind us) and is ranked 8th this week.

-Fritton and Andrews are going to give you a chance on Friday and Saturday.

-Head moving to leadoff feels like it will be permanent and lead to good results this weekend.

-Houge and Fraasman are heating up.

-Just need to keep finding power, figure out DH spot, get Marohn/Sosa settled and get the pen right.

I think a lot of people forget going 2-1 is success. That's not average or decent. A sweep is just the cherry on top. I would love to sweep every series. That's not to say there's not things to improve on if you go 2-1. There always are even if you get the sweep.

You go 2-1 in every series the whole year and you'll be a national champion

And UVA was preseason favorite to win the conference.

Seen a lot of UVA fans complaining about the zone in the 9th inning. The guys on the call eluded to it as well.

Love following the pack, but not really a baseball guy so what are yalls thoughts on that? Doesn't really matter in the end since we got the W, but just curious. Legit gripe or is this just fans coping with a meltdown?

I can see their argument, ump tightened his zone quite a bit in the 9th.

100%. We're top-half in the conference in most every offensive category, yet it feels like we've left a bunch of shots on the course so far this season. There's room for real improvement down the stretch, even moreso with our pitching/bullpen than offense.

There's still a lot of upside potential to be captured with this team.

Thought it was interesting that Potts came in and threw back to back days this weekend. He hadn't been used since February before that.

I can't speak for everyone but I would say the team is about where I wouold have expected at this point.
Non con - as expected
Conf:
2 of 3 Va Tech
2 of 3 Pitt
1 of 3 Duke
2 of 3 UVA

I also think this team has yet to hit its stride. I think the pitching staff can and will be much better a month from now.

All that said, not sure why would say people are taking those results for granted. We aren't a top 25 team right now and were preseason. Our results are very similar to what we have typically seen at this point. So, seems like we are kind of on par for what would have been expected to date.

It got tight for sure. Thought it had been right up to that point but seemed to shrink even more. I think the announcer said it best. It was a MLb zone in the 9th.

Attended Saturday and Sunday...one thing I noticed was some key mistakes in the field and on the bases. I have not followed the team before this weekend but this stuck out. Last year's team seemed tighter in all aspects.

This team has been atrocious on the bases all year. Just a bunch of boneheaded mistakes and getting picked off when they shouldn't be.

Not running into multiple outs or inning ending plays will go along ways if they can figure it out.
