• Dom lacked command but still shows the elite stuff - he has to stay down in the zone for his stuff to play in the ACC - if he can locate he's got the stuff - he's a FB dominant guy - and elevated fastballs tend to get punished - its not just throwing strikes but where you throw the strikes (52 of 83 pitches for strikes (62.6%)
• Shaffner is athletic - the velo seems to come easy as he is 90-92 on warm up pitches and doesn't look like it takes him a lot of effort to get there - 40 of 58 pitches for strikes (68.9%) - like to see that for a guy out of the pen
• Andrews has made some huge strides - up to 94 - filthy change up at times - thought he was better than what his final line showed - we didn't play really sharp defense behind him - some dirt balls into wild pitches - some balls in play that weren't routine but stuff plays you hope result in outs 52/81 strikes (64.2%)
• I thought Coop picked up where he left off - he's got really good stuff - 94 mph toady and I really like the pace he pitches at - 23 of 37 pitches for strikes (62.1%) - would like to see he and all our guys with the stuff they have go at that Fordham lineup a little harder - especially with the leads they had at times

• McCugh has some serious juice - I think he is going to progress nicely in the preseason and into ACC play
• Nixon is a gamer - hit the ball hard a lot - runs the bases hair on fire - he seems to have put on a little good weight but still a guy with as hard as he plays you hope doesn't get banged up too bad - he scared me on a slide into 3rd today where he didn't pop up as fast as you'd hope
• Decrisico I think is going to hit for more average than Butterworth - not as an explosive an athlete as Butters - but solid all around and a good find at the SS position - I think he and Luke will stir the drink for this team
• Heavner is a really good defender - he's got experience and he plays like it - I think he's going to play a lot, especially in some defensive sub situations - if he swings it some - he's really going to battle for starts at 3B - a verteran
• Head looks like a young aspiring big leaguer in uniform - and he can really run - expect him to get a lot of rope like Sosa did last year to figure things out
• Fraasman has a bat that looks like it is going to play - I think he brings some pop and he didnt look out of place at all makign the jump from Juco to D1
• Lanphere definitely going to give us some meaningful left handed at bats - he struggled behind the dish today at times so that will be someting to monitor
• Ossenfort has some raw tools for sure - will be interesting to see how he progresses against ACC pitching
• Novy is huge - surprised to see him start game 2 - sounds like Jaros is still a little banged up - he got his first hit out of the way so that's good - not the defender yet that Heavner is but if the tools start to match the body - could be a player for us
• Sosa hit a HR in Game 1 - looks good in the box - like a middle of the line up guy - did K twice in game 1 as well - hope that we get a number below 20% from him this year in terms of K rate - was around 30% last year - I thought he looked good behind the plate and we are going to need a lot of innings from him back there
• I think this team is going to hit for a higher average this year than last year - hard to say how many homeruns this team is going to hit - way too early - but I think we will find a way to score runs - 6 strike outs today in 61 at bats - so looks like a team this year that isnt't going to go up there and K a ton
