NC State held a team scrimmage today at the Doak. Here are some observations recorded chronologically.

- Dom Fritton touching 95 early on is a good sign
- Ryder Woodson's got some wheels.
- Josh Hogue's AB and single is a great sign for his return from last season's injury.
- Ryan Marohn got a 4-3 DP to escape a bases loaded jam. FB in low 90s consistently
- Alex Sosa is still that dude
- Justin DeCriscio getting cuts at the plate but not running. Some sort of guard on his left foot. With the season starting in two weeks, it could be a non-factor for opening day, but it's worth noting.
- Nice play by Sosa to catch Luke Nixon's pop-up bunt
- H&R with Hogue squandered with Ty Head tagged out at home, but good defense from Preston Bonn at the plate.
- Ryan Jaros showed hustle on a 4-3; might've beaten out a 6-3 or 5-3.
- Marohn should be a weekend regular barring anything health related to keep him out of action. Couple of quick innings today.
- Carson Kelly looks fine, but the Pack'll need more than fine from a senior arm. (And of course after I type this, he gets a 1-2-3 inning)
- Jet Gilliam in a similar boat to DeCriscio, but he had a solid 107 mph exit velo on a fly-out to dead-center, out of the park if it'd gone to the alleys.
- Landon Carr showing a lot of promise after relieving Marohn
- Head stretched a base hit to a double but hurt himself on the slide at second. He was able to stay in, scoring on an RBI single by Hogue one pitch later. Definitely a gutsy freshman.
- 105 off the bat for a Matt Ossenfort double off the bullpen wall (21 degree exit angle, 22 was gone)
- Brayden Fraasman dropped fly followed by a Carr WP definitely some of the lowlights from this scrimmage
- Good stuff today overall. Feb. 14 can't come soon enough.
