Nance- The freshman out of John M. Morehead (Eden, N.C.) put up arguably the best performance of the scrimmage, notching four strikeouts in back to back one-two-three innings. Struck out Sosa on 3 pitches.

Potts- The freshman southpaw rattled off six straight outs as well, including strikeouts against Jet Gilliam and Ossenfort. Potts only needed two pitches to record the final two outs, getting Lanphere and Heavner to fly out to left and ground out to second, respectively.

Head is going to play, we rarely sit highly rated freshman bats. They let them learn on the fly. His defense will probably be his calling card this year, hopefully grows into some power.

A lot of lineup versatility in regards to offense vs defense across the board

Again I doubt we see it but you have the versatility at basically 1st, 2nd, DH and OF to play to a platoon if no one emerges.

What you wont see this year (At least I hope) is a guy like Chase Nixon coming into PH against a lefty pitcher.

1st- McHugh (R), Ossenfort (L)
2nd- Nixon (L), Heavner (R)
CF- Head (L), Jet (R)
LF/RF- Lyons is a wild card IMO because he the only switch hitter on the roster, Houge (L), Fraasman (R)

Then you have Lanphere and basically anyone of the above who can DH.

One of the deeper teams we've had in a while. Feels almost like the first year Dom was here from Charlotte and we had about 8 guys for four spots.
