NC State will face Virginia Tech in a game tonight that is irrelevant in the Pack's pursuit of an ACC Title.  With that being said, momentum is real in a tournament setting and with a regional not locked up, winning would be ideal.

My opinion is you start the game with the intent to win it. Pitch Marone and evaluate how the game goes from there. The offense is likely going to have to do some heavy lifting to win this game. Cant wait to watch.

This game does mean nothing. I do not care if we lose 100-0. Duke is where it is at. As I mentioned before, I would consider forfeiting it. But of course we should not do that and wont.

But what this game is, is an opportunity to play guys that have not played or gotten much of a chance. This is your chance to give them experience. That to me has a ton of value. And shoot go into it telling them that we want them to win the game. What an opportunity for them to start and play in the ACC championship, Then our entire team gets to be fresh tomorrow when we play Duke.

It is like being up by 50 start of fourth quarter in football We put in all our subs to give them experience.

That is what I would do anyway.

Close your eyes and imagine the anger that will come from Marohn not being available in a 14 inning marathon that we lose because he pitched tonight.

Is that going to happen? Probably not, but it did happen last year to an extent. We get the benefit of having every single arm available fully for 3 games because tonight does not matter one bit.

Doesn't it matter for RPI purposes? I haven't been able to listen to the IPS in 5 (I spend most of my work days on conference calls), but we haven't necessarily nailed down a regional or super-regional hosting slot.

Having a bad loss could drop the RPI and give the NCAA another reason to screw us. They're always just waiting for another excuse.

Based on prior years, the committee has said they don't place a lot of importance on conference tournament games unless you win the tournament. Whether or not that is the case this year, who knows, but as we know, if they want to screw us, they will regardless of if we win or lose.

I'd start Miralia on the mound- Charlotte kid from Providence Day. Then use the young depth pitchers to get you to 27 outs.

I'm not worried about the position guys getting hurt. They could pull a hammy getting off the bus, just play them. With the exception that I would move Cozart to DH and put Sosa at catcher to get him some field time.

I'd want my outfielders to see the field/wall/angles before the must-win game.

Good thing is Duke used a lot of arms in their win over VT, including their closer with 45 pitches. Hopefully that is favorable to our offense that we can get to the weekend with our primary pitchers available for those two games.

That is the correct answer. NC State will still host a regional if it goes 0-2 in Charlotte and NC State will be a national seed if it wins the ACC title even if it loses the opener to Virginia Tech. This game is as irrelevant as it gets.

I don't put an ACC Tournament title above a College World Series or even a Super Regional, but the essence of sports is trying to win. It might not matter as much, but it does matter. NC State has a shot to be an ACC champion. Take the shot until it doesn't exist anymore.

Play the reserves. I will go out there and throw nine innings of knuckleballs for the Wolfpack if they give me a ring too.

Why not just make the first game a knock out game and the loser go home since this game is meaningless for them too??? Is ticket sales/TV to an extra game what this is really about?? It just makes no sense whatsoever. Where else do we play meaningless FOR BOTH TEAMS games post season games???

Yeah I remember talking about how if he won the ACC Championship last year the title game would have been his 1000th win which would have been pretty cool.
