State dominating Pitt at this point - going for the series win. I am planning to be at the game tomorrow to cover Senior day for IPS. On top of this game, the women's tennis team advanced to the national championship tonight and will face UNC tomorrow.

I guess the thought could be, for both pitching decisions tonight, that Fritton and Willadsen could piggy back eachother in game one of the tournament. Matt threw 60 pitches and Dom has thrown 36. I'm assuming Kelly comes in for the 9th.
Highfill and Lawson handle tomorrow with some Baker Nelson/Miralia/Kelly.
If Fritton pitches tomorrow, then I have no clue.

I think we're on the outside looking in for the NCAA even with a sweep, even with the stats they showed tonight. So if I were in charge, I have a staff day tomorrow and set up things for the ACC tournament. Pitt has used a ton of pitchers, and I think with our offense we can still win while saving the arms. Probably an unpopular opinion, but that's how I'd do it.

I'm with you. I'd put Highfill in the bullpen as "break glass in case of emergency" situation.
I was thinking about this tonight. Could State just try to schedule a non-conference series the last weekend of the regular season and throw the bottom of the bullpen and go to Durham fresh?

A win today would give us the 9 seed, regardless of what happens in other games. So that would put you in the pod with the 4 seed avoiding Wake, Clemson, and the coastal winner. Not the worst spot to be.

That said, I know it's not a likely thing, but I still am hanging on to hope for an at-large bid. If we sweep Pitt we will likely have a in RPI in the Top 25.
The committee has shown they don't care about the conference tournament.
You figure 7 ACC teams are locks. ND struggled a bit down the stretch, and finished 15-15 in conference with an RPI of 46. Remember, State took that series. I imagine ND gets the nod ahead of State based on conference record, but the rpi and conference record does make it a conversation. This is where not getting one at UNC was a killer.
Assuming ND gets in, with the ACC being the definite second best conference, 8 in would be a low number. Perhaps we could sneak in as #9.
