On Friday and Saturday, I saw an NC State team that had a little more of a resolve and focus. While that is not to say that they did not care or try in the games before, it just seemed like the Wolfpack went into those games basically saying to themselves, "We are not losing today, whatever it takes."

That is an NC State team that can play with and beat anyone. The Pack had things (like situational hitting and pitching, fielding, baserunning, and relief pitching) wired tight, and it showed.

At 31-15 overall, 10-13 in ACC, most of the preseason goals for NC State are probably still on the table.

Wise choice by the home team. Time to go sweep UNC at their place.

We could have won by 100 runs and our RPI would have still dropped

It was mentioned on the podcast yesterday that there is precedent for cancelling games for RPI management. Not saying that's what's happened here, but I don't like that idea in general. Sounds like the SEC has bought out games in the past for this reason.

Feel for the Richmond players who wanted to compete against the ACC, but overall, it's good for us.

Huge series this weekend

I noticed our RPI dropped from #19 to #27 since Sunday night. Given that we didn't play Richmond, I can't figure what caused that drop.

Our RPI would have dropped -5 if we won
Our RPI would have dropped -71 if we lost

I don't know how often they update, but I would guess the formulas were probably just catching up with the results from the weekend. Teams we've already played like Louisville lost, so that probably brought us down.

Louisville is beating top 5 ranked Vandy as we speak. A Louisville win should help us regain some of those spots.

And it was storming pretty good ~8:30 and I live close to campus.

They probably made the call early so they didnt have to come down from VA, not everything is some sinister scheme.

I'm sure Avent would've preferred to play.

Saw maybe Ethan on Twitter say that one of the metrics had taken our win against ECU out by mistake and caused a big drop that wasn't legit. Once it's replaced RPI would go back up to the 19/20 range. No clue if that's accurate or not

also, looking over the RPI live, Northeastern is #31. If you remember last year, that is where they were projected to be- CAA champs, regional team etc. Instead, they swept us, massively underachieved and finished with a RPI in the 110s. If they had the #31 RPI last year, we are very likely dancing. Crazy how that works
