That's a great adjustment on his end b/c he did not walk a ton last year. I haven't looked deeply into his numbers (this year) since he's missed so much time but he's definitely been more patient so far this year, it seems.Alex Gee said:I think he has the highest walk rate on the team actually.CLTWolf said:
Man, Noah Soles is just a good hitter. He's not fast, he's not gonna walk a bunch, he just rakes. We really missed that bat when he was out (and his steady defense). He's got some clutch in him too.

Yeah he's walking at about a 25% rate. Drawn 6 since returning. Great leadoff approach.CLTWolf said:That's a great adjustment on his end b/c he did not walk a ton last year. Pretty common play in that situation. Lefty on the mound, send the guy on first to try to draw a throw/balk since the pitcher is staring him down. With two strikes in a left on left matchup, it's not a bad play at all.Nairo said:
What in the hell fire was that?
Harrison was up there but I hadn't looked lately.Alex Gee said:Yeah he's walking at about a 25% rate. Drawn 6 since returning. Edit: Maybe not common, but useful. We frequently try to get in a rundown between first and second in that situation. Have scored on it a couple of times this year and been scored on by teams using it.
They gave Soles a chance, but he got into a 2 strike count. I don't know the numbers, but I imagine the hit rate left on left with two strikes is very, very low. So why not try to make something happen? Made ND make a play and they did.Riddickulous said:
I just like taking your chances with Soles. Glad we're finally making some defensive plays we've been seemingly missing all year.
Yeah maybe. I just don't see a problem with forcing the other team to make a play in a two strike count with two outs left on left. Probably doesn't happen in a 1 run game.Packsd14me said:Alex Gee said:Pretty common play in that situation. Alex, I agree with most of what you say but that was not the time to try that. Soles doesn't strike out much. An add on run on third . You try to surprise them. Little League. That doesn't work against good teams.

Still disagree on Soles striking out often. Stealing home is a low per cent age play. Soles had a better chance to drive in the run. Water under the bridge now. Need 9 outs now.

It was funny when they did not even notice that Dom had replaced Highfill. They were definitely high school level. Andrew is really good, so we are a little spoiled from that standpoint.wilmwolf80 said:
The production of the broadcast of these games from ND has been so awful. It's like a high school AV club. Makes me appreciate what Andrew Sanders does for us even more.
