Great at bat there. 3-1 with two outs and the bases loaded. Most dudes would be swinging from the heels there, and woulda rolled over that outside fast ball for a weak grounder to end the inning. Green stayed back trusted his hands, and drove the ball to the big part of the field. Just a great at bat.

I'm curious how close the play would have been if PG had just fully committed to going home. Worst case scenario it's 2nd and 3rd one out. The mistake compounded when he turned back since Kalae had committed to taking 3rd which I think was the right choice.

That time - lol. That's a lot of what baseball is dude. Situational hitting/shifting/playing the odds or playing a hunch. It wasn't a bad call, but was horrendous baserunning.


I know situational baseball. Played my whole life. Won an ACC championship at NC State. That is bad baseball. You cant just give away outs in a game that will have lots of runs. I know the damn game. It's just not good baseball.

You don't hunt in the 4th inning with 2 on an 0 outs with a .344 hitter at the plate. Tied in the 9th, then a bunt is ok. NOT in the 4th inning.

I know. I know he cares, but the teams are riddled with issues that just haven't been resolved. We are falling so far behind our peers, and quickly.

what an inning. as talented as this team is (and i think there is a lot of talent) this team doesn't deserve to be in the NCAA tourney.

blown probably 5-6 very winnable games on just simple stuff (this game is not over, but they are playing bad baseball)

I doubt he has completely checked out but something is off. The last two years we have massively underachieved and it's all been self inflicted. At some point we all lose that fire inside of us. I feel like the Omaha trip took its toll on Avent and led to him becoming satisfied, complacent, over it, or whatever you want to call it.

As someone who has to interview him after games, especially ones that NC State loses, I can tell you that the man is intense. There is no coach I dread dealing with after NC State loses more than Avent, and I don't mean that in a bad way. He just has no patience for bad baseball, and he has watched quite a bit of it this season.

As someone who has to interview him after games, especially ones that NC State loses, I can tell you that the man is intense. There is no coach I dread dealing with after NC State loses more than Avent, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I look at the scoreboard and I see NC State with no errors while Notre Dame has two, and with how poorly the Pack has been in the field it makes no sense at all.

Eta - After the initial graphic error, he changed how he pronounced it.
