weekend's result was disappointing. Miami is not that good, and the blowout on Sunday just revealed how much we screwed the pooch on Friday and Saturday. I didn't see any of the first two games. What happened with the 8 run inning? Avent left someone in too long? Or was it across multiple pitchers?

Ahh they were picked to win their division. How "good" they are is still to be decided.

First game was very flukey. Some bad hops, a handful of duck farts, and next thing you know you're down 0-8, but the guys showed great resolve to climb back to even, just couldn't get over the hump. I don't think the errors are what this team is, but sometimes things can snowball on you when guys start trying to make up for other mistakes. I didn't get to watch Saturday, but yesterday just shows how hard it is to sweep teams in our league. The are always going to be ebbs and flows in the season, but when all is said and done, this is a talented group and I expect they will do well.

This answered my question too. I traveled Friday and Sunday for a wedding Saturday so I basically wasn't able to watch any this weekend. We outplayed Miami except for 1 inning on Friday, it seems. Saturday I didn't see at all. And yesterday we dominated. Fritton is a future star (watched some of his start last night). Whitaker is who we thought too. Nice competitor, but imo not a Friday guy. Or that's what the box score tells me.

I dunno about Whittaker, I'm pretty sure they had scored 4-5 runs against him before he gave up hard contact. That game just had a lot of things go wrong early, and many of those mistakes or bad breaks were compounded by guys pressing. He gave up 8, only 5 earned, 4ks and had his first walk of the season. Like Wiladsen I see him as a pitch to contact guy that's counting on his defense to get guys out, and they let him down. I was listening to Sanders on the radio broadcast and he even said he didn't think Logan was having a bad outing. I still hope Highfill ends up back in the Friday role, but I like Logan.
