This will be Link Jarrett or Godwin from ECU

I think Link will take it after getting shafted at ND last couple of years host-wise and do really well there. Sigh.

Kendall Rogers just posted his candidates for the Clemson job.

He says that in his opinion they won't get past the first 3 names he's listed, Erik Bakich, Link Jarrett and Cliff Godwin. All 3 would be home run hires. Erik Bakich is a great coach.

I don't see Cliff Godwin leaving Eastern for anything short of a big SEC job (e.g., bigger than Ole Miss). Clemson has great potential but is more of a project than they probably want to believe. Monte was a slam dunk coming from Charleston.

That being said, will be interesting to see what happens to ECU baseball once the American falls apart. Houston, UCF, and Cincy (I guess) probably reduces an already-weak conference to a one- or two-bid league. Bit too far out to impact anything now though IMO.

I think AAC will be better in baseball once the new teams arrive.

Godwin has had his chances at multiple SEC jobs over the past few years. He's made it pretty clear that he has a goal of getting the Pirates to Omaha. Once that happens I think he has his eyes set on one job and that is Ole Miss. He loved the time he spent down there as an assistant and I would say he would be #1 on that list once Bianco hangs it up.

I dont see Godwin leaving ECU. Dude eats/sleeps/breathes ECU baseball. Dude was born and raised in Snow Hill for Christ's sake.

Bakich would be a really good hire IMO.

Godwin and Bakich both come from the Keith LeClair baseball tree at ECU. Damn shame what happened to LeClair. Guy was one of the best baseball minds of his time.

A lot of people dont realize that about Godwin. He really enjoys having his family close by.
With that being said, he really really really enjoyed his time in Oxford. I think that is the only place he would leave for unless it is a stupid offer.

Surprised there hasn't been much talk about GA Southerns coach. He has been there forever though.

Link would be interesting, he has really turned around ND and they have the funds to keep him but it is not easy winning consistently in cold weather.

Unrelated to Clemson but I wonder if Szefc at VT tries to cash in and bounce?

My money is on Justin Haire becoming the next HC at Ohio State.

That would be a HR hire for the buckeyes but other than being from Ohio, not sure why he'd want that job. Of course he's a good coach so I'm sure he'd make the most of that gig.

Seems like a very good hire for Clemson. They went over his background this morning on Packer/Durham and it appears to be a very good fit for Clemson. He has some rebuilding to do and I do think he will be up to the task. It is a very tough league and much tougher than the Big 10. Baseball matters at Clemson, so I do expect him to get the support to be successful - he just has to get it done.

Next up is FSU. I assume they have a list that includes Link Jarrett, but we will see how it all transpires. The longer Notre Dame stays in the CWS, the longer it will take to fill their role. They may not get Jarrett, but I do believe he is someone high on their list and someone they are willing to wait on.

Bakich is a great hire for Clemson from a coaching standpoint and I believe he's going to bring Nick Schnabel with him as well. Schnabel is also an ECU guy (played with Bakich) and coached there as well. Has JUCO experience which could come in handy to get some talent into Clemson quickly. Bakich had to recruit differently at Michigan so we'll see how he does at Clemson. He was with Corbin at Vandy early on before they were a powerhouse but he definitely helped get them there before he left so he knows what he's doing.

It's Link Jarrett or bust for the Noles, IMO. If ND keeps winning in Omaha gonna be a lot harder to hire him away. Could get weird if Jarrett says no. But, then again, guys like Bell might jump on it just to get out of Pittsburgh.

The more I read, I think Link Jarrett is about to make a TON of money soon, if he wants it.

I am interested to see if JT goes on to coach anywhere. He has always seemed like he would IMO.
