NC State will play its final ACC series of the season when it welcomes Wake Forest to Doak Field at Dail Park. The teams will play Thursday and Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1p.m. All three games will be broadcast on ACCNX and there will be a radio broadcast on WKNC 88.1 and the Varsity Network App.

Gonna be hotter than a barbecue grill out there.

Honestly, a bit of a meaningless series unless we get swept -- we are in the NCAA field, can't host and can't move up all that much.

I would like to see us line up pitching for the ACCT and be ready to deploy Silver in multiple tourney games as the bridge to Villaman or maybe even start him the opening game?

Game 1 midweek -- Lawson (this seemed to be the plan by starting him last night?) or Silver (skip WFU start?)
Game 2 Friday -- Willy
Semis Saturday -- Whitaker
Championship -- Payne/staff

NC State baseball (33-17, 14-12 ACC) will close out its regular season slate this weekend when it welcomes in-state foe Wake Forest (36-16-1, 12-14-1 ACC) for a three-game series. The teams will play Thursday and Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.

All three games will be broadcast on ACCNX and there will be a radio broadcast on WKNC 88.1 and the Varsity Network App.

Prior to Saturday's game, the program will honor its senior class of Devonte Brown, David Harrison, J.T. Jarrett, Matt Oldham and Canaan Silver.

SERIES HISTORY
Thursday will be the 190th time NC State and Wake Forest have met as the Wolfpack leads the all-time series, 125-63-1.

The teams last met on April 30-May 2, 2021, in Winston-Salem, N.C., and NC State took two of three to clinch the series. The Pack opened the weekend with a 13-7 win, and then after dropping the second game, 14-11, it captured a 15-8 victory in the rubber match. The entire series was a slugfest as the teams hit a combined 20 home runs on the weekend.

The last time the teams played a series in Raleigh was on May 11-13, 2018, and NC State swept Wake Forest with 8-5, 7-5 and 10-6 wins, respectively.

Happened a while ago now but hilarious watching the CF try to climb the wall for Groover's homer when it was clearly towering over him and GONE haha

How is Wake on the bubble -- and OUT as of now -- with this guy as their Friday arm and an offense full of video game numbers.

Their next 2 starters must stink.

James and Ethan mentioned on the podcast that Wake is said to have a small, HR prone home park that props up their numbers. I've never personally been there but makes sense.

And a 24-2 out of conference record. They must've played Southeast Louisiana CC every week.

I get why we're being aggressive early, but at this rate, this pitcher is going to be able to throw well into tomorrow's game before pitch count becomes an issue.

It's the trade-off for sure. I don't mind it, the few times we've gone deep in a count we've struck out looking. Just need to connect on one.

Yes this is hindsight but with your starter over 100 pitches, I don't get not having anyone up in the pen.

Whitaker has pitched well, but I think they should have had someone ready after the first walk. Hopefully Nelson can get us out of the inning.

No defense for walks. We still can get out with minimal damage, but we are setting the table for Wake.

Really good outing for Whittaker. Going against the best pitcher in the league, and a top 10 offense, really good work. That was the opposite of awful, just in case anyone was wondering.

This is where not having Highfill hurts. Whittaker's performance will probably be good enough tomorrow and Saturday.

Not Nelson's best outing

Why does Baker Nelson continuously get put out there no matter how bad he is ?

Sure seems to move from half inning to half inning. This guy is getting close to the ump from the unc series.

Walks and errors kill you. They always have. Two walks turns into a 3 run homer.

baker nelson just cant get out of his own way. he has become a liability the last month. time to give his innings to someone else before its too late.

That homer is why you can't simply say just throw strikes. Against a team that hits like this, you have to throw strikes in the right spot. Nelson isn't a bad pitcher, but like anyone else that isn't a flame thrower, he has to hit his spots and use his off speed stuff to keep guys out of sync. Tough break, but that's baseball. Let's just get the out and give the offense a long shot, and come back tomorrow and take the next two.

Wake has to be one of the most Busch League teams we've played all year. Their dugout acts like a high school softball team.

He's been dreadful , but when a kid walks 5 in less than 2 innings it's past time to yank him . That's on the coaching staff . He's shown no reason to leave him in there . We've watched this movie 6 times in a row now.

You can't continually leave it up to the umpire to bail you out. Don't put yourself in 3 ball counts. It is a recipe for disaster. Hence the three run homer. No defense for walks. Never has been.
