NC State baseball has received another significant donation towards the program's enhancement plan for Doak Field at Dail Park, as Val and Skip Valentine have pledged a $1 million gift to the project.

This gift is the second major commitment to the facility upgrades that will better support NC State baseball's competitive future while dramatically enhancing the spectator experience, and it will help keep the program on track to begin construction following the 2022 season.

"The Valentine family has a long and proud history of supporting the NC State community and we're grateful for their commitment to our baseball enhancement project," said NC State Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan. "Val and Skip are playing a significant part in an enhancement that will positively impact the future of this campus and program."

The Valentines are longtime supporters of the NC State baseball program and wanted to be a part of this transformational project through their relationship with the Wolfpack Club. Their company, Valentine Properties, has long impacted the student experience at NC State through student housing and parking in a variety of locations.

"I wanted to do my part to support head coach Elliott Avent and the Wolfpack baseball program so that we can reach greater heights in the future," said Val Valentine.

The enhancement plan has been separated into three phases to strategically meet program and budgetary priorities - field improvements, player performance facilities and game day/fan experience enhancements. These phases not only look to provide performance facilities for NC State players that will help them compete for and win championships, but it will create an innovative space that offers exceptional fan experience and is unique to NC State's loyal supporters.

does Valentine still own a good chunk of the real estate on the other side of the tracks from Doak?

edit: yes, assuming Valentine Commons is his...

Just to add some clarity to this fund raising effort. Between the $2MM gift from North State Bank and the $1MM gift from Valentine, that will cover the cost of the actual field improvements that EA wants done. Just the field! Not saying that is what these gifts are being used for.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Has anyone heard how the funding is progressing towards the 15M goal? Ahead, even with, or behind schedule?

Well they should have $300K more they squeezed from season ticket holders. Don't mind giving but I didn't care for the $100/seat tax.

East Village will return (supposedly) after construction is done.
