Nice showing there from Silver stepping up in a high leverage inning there. Will bode well for him going forward.

hate that we had to use premium arms today, but a W is a W. and it's tuesday so we should be able to see them a little bit this weekend. wish this is a game we could have gotten some younger guys some innings, we'll likely need a guy or two to step up going forward.

NC State baseball (12-8) got back in the win column on Tuesday evening as it secured a 5-3 victory over North Carolina A&T (9-11) at Doak Field at Dail Park.

Of the Wolfpack's five runs, four came by way of the home run courtesy of a solo shot from LuJames Groover III and a three-run blast by Josh Hood (2-for-4). Will Marcy added to the offense going 2-for-2 on the day, as he extended his reached base streak to a career-long ten games.

Groover put the Pack on the board in the first inning with his second home run of the year, a leadoff shot to left field.

In the third Hood belted a three-run homer over the left field wall, making it 4-0 after Jacob Cozart drew a walk and Tommy White laced a double off the right center wall. It was his fifth of the season and second in as many games.

The Pack tacked on a run in the fourth when Payton Green and Noah Soles pulled off a double steal at the corners, extending its lead to 5-0.

A&T ended its scoring drought in the fifth thanks to a one-out RBI single from Alec Seaton, and then a 2-RBI double down the left field line by Anthony Hennings in the sixth put the Aggies within two.

The Aggies managed to put the game-tying run on base in the ninth when T.J. Ash led off the inning with a double down the left field line and Tyshawn Barrett drew a one-out walk, but Canaan Silver tallied back-to-back strikeouts to end the game and pick up his first save of the season.

Starting pitcher Garrett Payne (2-0) tossed 5.1 innings in his first start of the season to earn the win, while Silver threw the final 3.2 innings of the game and matched his career high in strikeouts with four.

NC State will be back in action this weekend for a three-game series against No. 12 Georgia Tech at Doak Field at Dail Park. The teams will play at 6:30 p.m. Friday, 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

Friday and Sunday's games will be broadcast on ACCNX, while Saturday's contest will air on the ACC Network. All three games will have an audio stream on WKNC 88.1 and the Varsity Network App.
