MLB DRAFT: Bailey Goes To The Giants At No. 13 Overall
NC State catcher Patrick Bailey has been drafted No. 13 overall in the 2020 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants.
Bailey averaged .296 at the plate in the shortened season while leading the team with six home runs, 20 runs batted in, and 17 walks. Bailey also scored 20 runs and hit three doubles with a 1.151 OPS.
During his time in Raleigh, Bailey garnered several accolades including All-ACC and All-American Freshman honors in 2018. The next season, he was named to the All-ACC First Team, ABCA All-Region Team, and Collegiate Baseball’s All-American Third Team while spending the summer with the US Collegiate National Team.
The 2020 Preseason All-American selection will join former Wolfpack shortstop Will Wilson in the Giants’ farm system with Wilson getting traded from the Angels in December 2019. Bailey is the fourth first-round pick for NC State in the last seven years, joining Wilson, Carlos Rodon, and Trea Turner.
