It goes all the way back to his freshman season when he was promoted from the junior varsity to be with the Panthers for the state playoffs. Soon after, there was a scholarship offer from North Carolina State and Villaman committed to the Wolfpack.

But events have taken on a different kind of momentum. As a senior, Villaman has become a major pro prospect. He checks off all the boxes: 6-foot-6, throws left-handed, has a fastball as high as the low 90s. The scouts are there every game.
