College Baseball Projected Field Of 64: May 26

We have one change to our hosts since yesterday: North Carolina replaces NC State. After the Wolfpack took two of three in Chapel Hill last weekend, we figured NCSU was safely ahead of UNC in the pecking order but the Tar Heels have gone 3-0 in the conference tourney to advance to Sunday's title game, while the Wolfpack went 1-2. As a result, UNC is now five spots higher in the RPI (No. 14, compared with NCSU's No. 19), and UNC now has a better aggregate ACC record (20-13 compared with NCSU's 19-14). It turns out, that "meaningless" Florida State-NC State game on Friday night was not meaningless at all; that loss helped UNC move back ahead of NC State in the hosting race, despite the head-to-head result. And the Tar Heels can clearly remove any doubt with one more win on Sunday against Georgia Tech.

State is 13-6 with a +18 run differential against NCAA tournament teams with Coastal, Minnesota, Elon and UNCW playing today (UNCW and Elon play each other). Impressive

I think it depends on what happens today. I feel pretty good as of this moment but if Ole Miss and UNC win today it gets a lot dicier. IMO, State has the advantage over UNC right now because of head to head, road record and series wins. However, I think UNC would have the edge if they have the higher RPI (which they will) and the tournament title. If their only advantage is RPI, I like State's chances. As for Ole Miss I think it's simple. If they win they host, if not they don't. I think there's three spots up for grabs with State, UNC, Miami, Ole Miss, Oregon State and Texas A&M in the mix, possibly Creighton as a longshot.

Yeah State won't be hosting unless Ole Miss blows this game. What a bizarre hosting race. LSU, Ole Miss, UNC and WVU all had to go on runs to knock State out and that's exactly what happened. I think Oxford or Corvallis is State's best shot to win

Just like I told you guys in February on this thread...Finish the ACC as the 3-5 seed, enter NCAA as a Weak 1/Strong 2 seed, lose out early, and then....you guessed it- wait til next year for Avent to continue his historic run of consecutive years at a single program without a conference championship. Wash, Rinse, Repeat.

Here's hoping they send us to WV instead of G-Vegas.

Problem with them is they have one of the best pitchers in the country. Can State beat him or beat WVU twice? Idk. We saw how that went last year

State hasn't won any Championships in baseball, basketball, or football since Ark. has won its NCAA basketball championship with old Nolan Richardson.

Sounds something like the basketball season -- leave it in the hands of others, and sometimes those others take advantage.
Kinda. State really took care of business the last three weeks but basically forfeiting the FSU game was a killer

Getting run out of a game where a guy started his second game of the season didn't help. I get GaT was good, but when you score 2 runs over two games.....then you leave it open for others to fill your spot.

Absolutely. Yesterday was embarrassing and it's why you shouldn't have forfeited on Friday. GT is really good

I would normally say yes but this team seems to play better away from home. We really have no home field advantage as can't remember last time we had more than 50% of the fans show up for a game. When was last time we hosted and actually advanced to supers?

We sold out the Friday night game of the Clemson series, which was the last series of the season. So I would say more than 50% showed up.
