Right now I think there's 3 guys on the roster who you feel pretty good about projecting 10+ homeruns. Ryan, Wiggins, and Novy.

But power isn't always about hitting homeruns, extra base hits can be just as valuable.

Part of the reason I have been so frustrated with the lack of base running the last few years is when guys like Rett, Ty, Nixon get walked or hit a single. Within a couple pitches that should effectively turn into a double 80-90% of the time. But they acted like they had A Mak or Pennington at the plate and were scared to take the bat out of their hand.

Top 100 player out of HS last year. Limited sample size this year, but Auburn was VERY good on the mound.

Pitching very well on the cape this summer too. Nice upside get, should be a guy that gets innings

Justice De Jong is a strike thrower, big kid too.

Comes from a VERY good HS program, Poly Prep, in NYC.

I love that he peppers the zone, definitely a high upside type.

It really depends on where you are. Some states have strong D2's and some have stronger Juco's. Pitching wise, I think Juco is deeper. There are kids there that won't go D1…especially pitching, they will go pro first. I was at a juco game a few years back in nc. Teams ranked in the top ten nationally. Both pitchers in the mid-90's. Pro and college scouts in attendance. I counted over 30 radar guns early in that game. Many pros in that game. Finished on a big hr in the top 9th and a bases loaded DP to finish a 4-3 game. The scouts got their money's worth in that game.

Looks like Bo Rob starting following Dylan Koontz from UNCC (previously UK and Campbell). 11 homeruns at UNCC this year, has shown huge power over summer leagues in the past.

I am assuming he is eligible with the 5 for 5 ruling, but he will be 24 in December. And tbh I just don't know the rules anymore, but according to baseball reference he has played 4 years of college baseball.

Quick question for JCooke or anybody really. First I was talking to a friend of mine who pitched at the Coast Guard Academy. He has a 15 year old son who is catching and pitching, but is leaning towards catching and his dad really can't help with that. Is Brett Austin in Raleigh area and does he do any development with younger catchers, or is there somebody else that you would recommend?

Thanks. I was thinking he was helping out this past season for State, but he is not listed in any of the baseball staff.

yup. 46 XBH in general is no joke. You might accidentally hit a couple XBH per season, but 46 in 62 games is fantastic.

Impressive freshman campaign no matter the level of competition I don't know how easy it is to eval from prob a bunch of low 80s arms to ACC level pitching.

His JUCO team finished 17th in the country. for reference Sherman Johnson's former team, which is considered a very good program, finished 10th. And the coaches have had some solid JUCO evaluations recently with Sherman, Fraasman (year 1 atleast), and then going back to Austin Murr and Johnny butler. This kid had better overall numbers than all of them (I do think Austin Murr hit like .450 tho, just not the pop).

Certainly not arguing, just proving a little context

Ga Highlands played a very challenging schedule this year. Lots of really good JUCO teams on it, including Walters State, Lincoln Trail (Fraasman's school), Wabash Valley, USC Lancaster, USC Salkehatchie and a few others.

Ga Highlands made the JUCO World Series 2 or 3 years ago as well. Very good program.
