ACC POWER RANKINGS: Heading Into Week 7
Here is our take on the Atlantic Coast Conference heading into week seven of the season.
NOTE: Last week’s ranking is in parenthesis for each team.
1. Clemson
Tigers continue to roll along and have another test this week in Tallahassee.
This Week: @Florida State
2. Wake Forest
Another easy nonconference win for the Deacs over Army.
This Week: Bye Week
3. NC State
NC State checks in at No. 3 after surviving Florida State, and it wasn’t pretty. Now the Pack must go on the road and knock off an undefeated team, and likely without Devin Leary.
This week is huge for the Pack.
This Week: @Syracuse
4. Syracuse
Syracuse had a bye week to prepare for NC State... with a chance to remain undefeated. The Orange could be heading to Clemson next week with the lead in the Atlantic Division on the line.
This Week: NC State
5. Florida State
Four of the top five in the league are battling this week as FSU is hoping to end a two-game skid by defeating Clemson at home.
Why is FSU still No. 5? The Noles are losing closely to very good teams.
This Week: Clemson
6. North Carolina
North Carolina had a big-time win at Miami and can really seize control in the Coastal by knocking off Duke on Saturday in Durham.
This Week: @ Duke
7. Duke
Duke stumbled at Georgia Tech in large part due to an unfavorable call in the end. Now they must bounce back at home against rival North Carolina
This Week: North Carolina
8. Pittsburgh
Who do you pick at this point? I guess Pitt after the Panthers shredded Virginia Tech at home.
This Week: Bye Week
9. Miami
Miami has now lost three straight games and is still... No. 9.
This Week: @ Virginia Tech.
10. Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech has now won two straight ACC games since Geoff Collins was fired. Does that say more about him or the state of the Coastal Division?
This Week: Bye Week
11. Louisville
The Cardinals got back on a winning track at Virginia. Scott Satterfield remains head coach.
This Week: Bye Week
12. Virginia Tech
Can I put three teams No. 14?
This Week: Miami
13. Boston College
Boston College got thumped by Clemson and is really banged up.
This Week: Bye Week
14. Virginia
Tony Elliott’s squad is struggling right now and have to check in at No. 14... right?
This Week: Bye Week
