“We just didn’t execute. I think we had a lot of self-inflicted penalties. We hurt ourselves. We got behind the chains. Overall, we just didn’t execute.”

“Any game that you lose is a missed opportunity. You want to go 1-0. You want to win every week. When you walk off the field with a loss, it’s a missed opportunity.”

“They did a good job. We knew coming into the game they were a talented front. Like I said, we didn’t execute well. We know we’re a better team than that. We know we can display a lot better football. For us, we’ve got to get back in the film room, learn from our mistakes, and take it personally.”

“Not at all. We know what’s in front of us. We just played a very good football team, but like I said, we didn’t put on a display of what we’re all about. We’re going to definitely bounce back. This doesn’t change anything.”

“Sometimes, that’s the way the game goes. Defensively, they switched things up on us in the second half. They definitely played a lot softer. They wanted us to keep everything in front of them. Like I said, they’re good at what we do, but offensively we’ve got to execute a lot better.”

“Not very hard. I’ve taken a lot of hits, and my job is to protect the football. Every single play, that’s what I take care of the most.”

“We’re a little bit heartbroken and a little bit pissed off because we walked off that field knowing we didn’t play to our best ability. We had very high aspirations. We had very high expectations going into this game. We thought we prepared well, but we didn’t execute well. We didn’t play to our best ability. Guys in the locker room are hurt, but at the same time, you see guys walking around saying, ‘We’re going to bounce back.’”

“It was just a miscommunication with me and Grant [Gibson]. We go on a clap a lot. I think something was heard or there was a certain indicator to where he snapped the ball, but it’s on me whether I did call for the ball or not to get on top of it.”

“It’s always hard to call plays when it’s third-and-18 or second-and-long. Anytime you get off-schedule, it definitely throws off your game plan. It’s our job to stay out of those situations."

“It’s a big missed opportunity for us. We realize that, but we’ve still got a long season ahead. There’s a lot at stake, but this one definitely hurts. We had the opportunity to be in the driver’s seat, and we missed out on it.”

“[D.J. Uiagalelei] is a very talented player. We knew he could hurt us. He got out on us a couple of times. Overall, I feel like we did a decent job, but it’s not good enough.”

“The championship wasn’t played tonight. We’ve still got a lot at stake for us. There’s a long season ahead. We’ve got a really good Florida State team at home next week. We’ve got to reset and get back to work.”

“Yeah, I’m definitely pissed off, but we’ve got to get better. We’ve got to get back to Raleigh, watch the film, put this game to bed, and get back to work.”

“Not really. We’re a different team. We’ve been preaching that all year. I wouldn’t say I feel anything familiar."
