NC State head coach Dave Doeren updated the status of linebacker Payton Wilson and tight end Trent Pennix after the season opener.
Pennix will be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks according to Doeren.
“Trent Pennix's injury is a non-surgical injury,” he stated. “He will be out 4-6 weeks. It is good news that he's not out for the season and it's non-surgical.”
Wilson exited in the first quarter with a shoulder injury, but the expectation is he can return soon.
“Payton's MRI came back completely clean,” Doeren said. “He's sore but there's nothing damaged... we'll just give him a chance, it's a day-to-day recovery. The positive is its not season-ending or a surgical repair; he just needs time to rest up.”
