RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State quarterback Devin Leary has been named to the 2022 Maxwell Award Watch List. The Maxwell Football Club today announced its watch list for the 86th Maxwell Award presented annually to the outstanding player in college football.

Last season, Leary become the first and only quarterback in ACC history to hit the 35 (TD)-5 (INT) threshold in a single season. He also set a new school single season record with 35 passing touchdowns - he broke the previous mark of 34 held by Philip Rivers (2003). Leary ranked third in the ACC in passing efficiency with a 157.1 mark - the second-best mark for a season in school history, and his 3,433 passing yards in 2021 ranks sixth in the Wolfpack single-season record book.

Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced November 1, 2022, while the three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be unveiled November 22, 2022. The winners of the 86th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on December 8, 2022.

The Maxwell Award has been presented to the College Player of the Year since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert "Tiny" Maxwell who was a former standout at the Swarthmore College and a renowned sports writer and football official. This year will be the 86th anniversary of the award.
