Dereon Seabron

On UNC limiting his ability to finish at the rim...

That was just me. That was a combo of me trying to initiate the contact and draw a foul and not focus on making a layup. It was me trying to move in the air. It was me trying to move around them instead of going up strong through them.

On how difficult it made things when Ebenezer Dowuona had foul trouble...

It was very difficult. With those two early fouls in the second half, [Armando Bacot] was rolling on the boards and scoring in the paint. It was hard for us on the defensive end.

On getting some momentum heading into Brooklyn...

I feel like with the type of team we have that we don’t hang our heads over losses. The season, the way it has gone as far as dealing with injuries and stuff like that, we’re always playing hard. We’re going to try to get these last two wins because it’s good to start playing well at the end of the season heading into the ACC Tournament.

On what Jericole Hellems said to the team...

He’s kind of been talking to us throughout the whole week leading up to the game on Saturday. [Hellems] already knew Senior Night was coming, so he was just trying to get us pumped up for it.

Cam Hayes

On not sending the seniors out in the right way...

Yeah. It was kind of difficult to start off. [Bacot] was killing us on the offensive glass. We wanted to give [Hellems] the gift we worked toward. But he played hard. We all played hard and fought the whole time. I’m still proud of how we came into the game even though we didn’t get the win.

On him finally hitting some shots...

It’s fine. I try when I come in to make the best out of my opportunity and try to do whatever I can do to help the team win. That’s all I try to do whenever I get into the game.

On what the in-state games mean to him...

I just take it like every game. I think it’s cool to be able to play close to home and play those teams like Wake Forest. But I just take it as regular games. That’s how it feels to me.
