Terquavion Smith Named ACC Freshman of the Week

NC State men’s basketball guard Terquavion Smith was named ACC Freshman of the Week on Monday for his efforts in last week’s win at Georgia Tech.

It is the third ACC Freshman of the Week honor for Smith this season.

ACC men's basketball weekly honors are determined by a vote of a 15-member media panel and announced on Mondays throughout the regular season.

Smith scored 26 points on 9-of-14 shooting and added nine rebounds in the Pack’s 76-61 win over Georgia Tech last Tuesday.

The Greenville, N.C. was 6-of-8 from three-point range and continues to lead the ACC with 79 three-pointers this season.

Smith scored 18 of his 26 points in the first half as NC State opened a 51-25 lead over the Yellow Jackets.

Smith’s nine rebounds are his most against an ACC opponent this season.

For the season, Smith is averaging 15.6 points per game which ranks in a tie for ninth in the ACC. Smith ups his average to 17.0 points per game in ACC-only contests, tied for fifth.

NC State returns to action Wednesday night when it hosts Boston College at 7 p.m.
