Eason Commits To NC State
NC State landed a huge commitment today from Norfolk (VA) Norview defensive lineman Derrick Eason. Eason announced his decision on Twitter.
Eason recently visited NC State and that trip put the Wolfpack in a strong position.
"It went great," Eason said of the trip. "I enjoyed the atmosphere and coaches. They treated me like family. The facilities were great, and I loved the academics. I just enjoyed the atmosphere at NC State."
The Wolfpack could be potentially losing at least five defensive linemen at the conclusion of the 2017 season, so landing a talent like Eason was a priority. The coaches mentioned to him the potential playing time in their pitch but added it wasn't a given.
"They mainly talked about how it was all about a family there," he said. "They told me they had a lot of seniors and spots would be available but nothing would be given. I'll have to earn everything if I went there, but spots could be available."
Eason is NC State's 17th commitment in the 2018 recruiting class, and he is the Wolfpack's second defensive line commitment.
The 6-foot-5, 245-pound prospect is rated a three-star recruit by Inside Pack Sports.
