LOCKER ROOM REPORT: Wolfpack Players

NC State forwards Jericole Hellems and Ebenezer Dowuona met with the media following the Wolfpack’s 90-81 win over Louisiana Tech Saturday afternoon.

Hellems finished with a career-high 31 points with four rebounds and one steal. Dowuona also set career highs with 10 points and six blocks.

Did you feel like this was a redemption effort after the last game?

Yeah, I think I’d been in a slump as far as fouling. I let my offense determine my game, so it was good to get out there, make some shots, and try to help my team as best I can. I appreciate them for finding me and giving me open looks.

Do you remember the last time you were that hot from three-point range?

Yeah, it’s been a minute. It’s good to see the ball go in.

Did you feel that you’d have a great game shooting from long range from your pre-game shoot around?

Coach [Kevin Keatts] gets us in the gym and tells us to put as much work in as possible. I feel like I’ve been putting in work since the summer. It found its way into the game today.

How was it to get that motivation after the huge NC State football win last night and having to turn around to play at 2 p.m. today?

It’s exciting to get back to the community and the organization, as far as NC State. They did a tremendous job last night, and we applaud them.

How do you feel like you’re progressing from an offensive standpoint?

I just take it day by day. I’m just trying to get better every game. My goal is to get better, stay consistent, get blocks and rebounds, and help out with the offense.

As a post player, do you get an added boost of excitement when a guy like Kenneth Lofton, Jr. faces off against you?

Yeah, as a big, I take pride in playing against other good bigs and going at each other. I feel like he did good, but I’m glad we got the win.
