“I think as an offense as a whole we’re executing a lot better. That goes into preparation, and we learned from our mistakes against Mississippi State.”

“Coach Beck has been doing a great job, coach Proctor as well, preparing us.”

“I wouldn’t really say a new level. I’d say I’m progressively seeing myself get better each week. I want to keep doing that, stay on that positive trend, and doing everything I can to help us win.”

“I thought it was good for our team -- physically help guys recover, getting their bodies back, and mentally be able to hit the reset button.”

“I was able to go back home to New Jersey and spend time with my family. I was thankful for coach Doeren giving us that time off.”

“I think it’s going to take us playing three phases of the game very well... and also bring our own energy.   Bring our own juice on the sidelines. We know it will be a great environment against a great team.”

“We have to bring high energy from the beginning."

“It would truly be an honor. Emeka deserves everything that he's earning and he’s put in tremendous, hard work to his game and this school."

“It's always great to go home and be able to see my little brother. Every time I go back he's getting bigger and bigger... he takes great pride in being a good quarterback and takes great pride in representing our name well.”

“The recruiting process was different for him. It was tough for him going through a COVID season... when it came down to it, my family thought Illinois was the best option for him.”

“I do write left-handed and a couple of other things left hand. Naturally I was throwing with my left hand growing up... my dad never got to buy me a lefty glove, so growing up I eventually picked up my older brother’s glove so I could throw with my right hand and catch with my left.”

“It's awesome going up against Drake... he's got me a couple of times. Drake does a good job of recognizing different formations, and he does a great job of trying to bait the quarterback.”

“I wouldn’t say there is a huge trash-talker who stands out on the defensive side."

“We do a really good job of keeping our focus week-by-week. Going into the bye we knew what we wanted to accomplish, fix, and take a look at.”

“It's hard for anyone in the position they are in to not look ahead. That's something you can’t really control. Coach Doeren and the staff makes sure our mindset is in the present.  Being able to look ahead isn't the right way to go.”

“Any college team can get beaten, so taking that one week approach and not looking too far ahead is very important."

“They are a good defense and very well-coached... the key to us is executing our plays and executing our plan.”

“Being able to execute is what it's going to come down to."

“Being able to stay in routine and prepare the same each week... all those little things end up adding up to how you perform. It's going to be important for our team and critical to maintain that consistency.”
