NC State first baseman Austin Murr headed to Detroit

NC State has now had four players selected on day two of the 2021 MLB Draft, as first baseman/outfielder Austin Murr was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the sixth round.

Murr, who was a second-team All-ACC selection for the 2021 season, batted leadoff for the Wolfpack’s potent lineup, batted .319 with 74 hits, 32 RBIs, 54 runs and seven home runs last season. 

Murr follows Tyler McDonough (Red Sox, third round), Jose Torres (Reds, third round) and Evan Justice (Rockies, fifth round) on day two of this year’s draft.
