COMMIT ALERT: In-State LB Daejuan Thompson Picks The Wolfpack

NC State just landed a big commitment from Whiteville (NC) three-star linebacker Daejuan Thompson‍, who was on campus today for an unofficial visit.

Thompson projects to play outside linebacker and picked NC State over offers from Tennessee, Duke, Wake Forest, and East Carolina among others.

Previously he attended the Under Armour All-American Camp in Charlotte where he felt he performed well.

“It went pretty good,” he said.  “I showed up late so I rushed into it.  Overall it was fun; it was a good experience."

He measured in at 6' 3.5” and 181 pounds, which is light for a linebacker. But he did point out he’s lost weight for track and normally plays around 195 pounds.

“I can get bigger, for sure, with my frame,” Thompson said.  “I know I need to get bigger and you can always increase your speed and IQ, especially at the linebacker position.

“I think my strengths are my motor and versatility. I play fast and I can move around and make plays... I feel like I'm a playmaker.  I also like hitting, too.”
