No. 23 NC State now knows its pool play opponents for next week’s ACC Tournament at Truist Field in Charlotte. With a series win over No. 9 Florida State this weekend, the Wolfpack locked up the No. 3 seed in next week’s 12-team field.
The Pack will be the top seed in Pool C, and will be matched up with 6-seed UNC and 10-seed Pittsburgh. The Wolfpack swept both the Tar Heels and Panthers on the road this season.
NC State will face Pittsburgh Thursday at 7 p.m. and Carolina Friday at 7 p.m.
The team with the best record in each pool advances, with the the top four meeting up in the seminfinals on Saturday. In the event of a tie with each team going 1-1, the highest seed advances. So, Tuesday’s meeting between the Tar Heels and Panthers will determine which game is meanigful for NC State. If Pitt wins, Thursday’s game is for a spot in the semis. If UNC wins, the Wolfpack won’t play a game that “counts” until Friday.
