RALEIGH – Eighth-year head coach Wes Moore and the NC State women's basketball team inked a strong class of future Wolfpackers during the first day of the early signing period as three high school student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent to join the Pack beginning with the 2020-21 season.

NC State received official commitments from Aziaha James, Sophie Hart and Jessica Timmons on Wednesday. The three players make up a Wolfpack signing class that is ranked 12th nationally by Collegiate Girls Basketball Report and 13th nationally by ESPN/ASGR Basketball.

"We're very excited about this class and the versatility they bring to our team," said Moore. "It's always good when you can address needs while also adding outstanding additional talent. We're confident Aziaha, Sophie and Jessica will help us continue our run as one of the top programs in the country."

Aziaha James • 5-9 Guard • Virginia Beach, Va. • Princess Anne High School
21st-ranked player and seventh-ranked guard in the class of 2020 (Collegiate Girls Basketball Report) … 2020 VHSL 5A Player of the Year … VHSL First Team 5A All-State in both 2019 and 2020 … 4x VHSL Class 5 state champion … 2020 All-Tidewater Player of the Year

"Aziaha has a scorer's mentality," said Moore. "Her ability to shoot the three with range as well as get to the rim allows her to score in bunches. She has the size and the strength to be a factor on the boards as well. We also like the fact that she comes from very successful high school and travel team programs - she knows how to win."

Sophie Hart • 6-5 Post • Farmington, Minn. • Farmington High School
40th-ranked player and the fourth-ranked post player in the class of 2021 (Collegiate Girls Basketball Report) … MGBCA 4A All-State in 2020 … 3x All-Conference First Team honoree … 2019 PrepHoops Breakout Player of the Year …. Surpassed 1,000 points and rebounds in her high school career … Helped Farmington to 2020 Co-State Championship title … 2019 Team USA Trials

"Sophie is a very skilled post player, which fits well with our four-out, one-in system," said Moore. "She's a presence on the block on both ends of the court and a force on the boards. Sophie runs the floor well in transition and continues to expand her range. She too is used to playing and winning on great teams."

Jessica Timmons • 5-8 Guard • Charlotte, N.C. • North Mecklenburg High School/Independence High School
45th-ranked player and 16th-ranked combo guard in the class of 2021 (Collegiate Girls Basketball Report) … 2020 AP All-State … NCBCA First Team All-State in 2020 … 3x NC All-District 9 Team … Surpassed 2,000-point mark at North Mecklenburg High School

"Jessica is a scorer that can finish with contact while also stretching the defense with deep threes," said Moore. "She looks to push the ball in transition and plays an up-tempo game. Jessica is a fierce competitor that will look to make plays on both ends of the floor, and her great work ethic will ensure that she continues to grow her game."

What They're Saying: 2021 Class

"Coach Moore's NC State Wolfpack has signed another dynamic recruiting class for 2021. Moore has steadily built NC State into a top-10 program. The guards they signed, James and Thomas, are athletic and explosive with the ability to contribute right away. Hart is already skilled and will be a force in the coming years." - ASGR Basketball

Aziaha James

"James is a matchup problem. An explosive lefty with a scorer's mentality. Has 3 level scoring ability and defensive disruptor." - Michael T. White and Brett McCormick (ASGR Basketball)

"A lefty scoring machine, James has continued to elevate her game, gradually moving up the national ranking board. A proven scorer with range, James beats you off the dribble or from deep. She has a knack for scoring in bunches." - Dan Olson (Collegiate Girls Basketball Report)

Sophie Hart

"Hart is a true low block presence. She has great footwork, possesses good hands and finishes with either hand. Also can step out beyond the 3 point line." - Michael T. White and Brett McCormick (ASGR Basketball)

"A skilled low-post prospect, Hart falls at #4 among centers in the class of 2021. A consistent interior producer with the ability to beat you off the glass or facing up in the key, Hart earned her stripes admirably at the 2019 USA Trials." - Dan Olson (Collegiate Girls Basketball Report)

Jessica Timmons

"Good, quick and strong. Great passer with court vision. Attacks the rim and reads the defense. Has ability to score or distribute. Uses body well to draw contact and get to the free throw line." - Michael T. White and Brett McCormick (ASGR Basketball)

"Athletic and versatile in the back court, Timmons separated herself from many by her consistent offensive production in the big moment. Mid-range game delivery, deep threat as well, a capable playmaker at the PG position with a penchant for scoring from that spot. Timmons brings a winning personality and one who continued to move up the charts each year." - Dan Olson (Collegiate Girls Basketball Report)
