NC State sophomore running back Zonovan Knight answered questions from the media as he moves through fall camp.

Have there been any conversations regarding sitting out of the season due to pandemic concerns?

“We’ve been communicating, but nobody has chosen to opt out of the season. A lot of people are eager to play, so everybody’s pretty much been hands-down wanting to get back onto the field. That’s what everybody’s been working to do.”

How has the chemistry been since returning to the practice field?

“Just in these past few days where we’ve been outside working, the chemistry on offense has been great. Coach Beck came in, took control, and took the time to get to know everyone and build unity between the O-line, receivers, running backs, and quarterbacks. That’s helped us get that edge, and that’s why we have so much chemistry and we’ve been so dominant these last couple of days.”

What do the players plan to do to help the roster, as a whole, follow proper social distancing guidelines outside of team activities?

“We’re going to have to use the GroupMe and try to enforce it as much as we can. At the end of the day, it’s up to the players because we can only hold them accountable so much. It’s ultimately going to come down to the individual player to make that sacrifice.”

What changes have you seen in Devin Leary this year as opposed to last year?

“You can definitely tell he’s more confident this year. Last year, you could tell he was stressing over trying to prove himself to the coaches. This year, it’s more natural. You can tell the difference that confidence makes on people.”

How has the team made changes to social distancing guidelines as they pertain to the dining areas and other activities apart from practice?

“The way the cafeteria is set up, they have a player’s lounge and the cafeteria. They’ve sectioned it off by who you’re staying with to try and keep people from cross-contaminating and crossing paths. It’s been an adjustment for us, but I think it’s going to be better in the long run. We need to keep it at zero players testing positive."
