NC State senior defensive end Bradley Chubb met with the media after the 35-17 win over Pittsburgh.

How is your finger?
My finger is good. I'd never seen that before, that's why I was acting like that.

It didn't hurt bad, but looking at it, it was pretty bad.

Coach said you were acting.
Nah, I definitely wasn't acting.

You have been a little theatrical.
Raise your hand if your finger popped out.  Did you look at it? Well, I looked at mine.  It was not in the right place.

When did you look at it?
It just felt like it jammed. I went to wipe my face and I saw it. That's when I freaked out.

How did it get caught?
It got caught on somebody's jersey.

You got a little help from Syracuse and are alone in first place.
We're seven games in and we have a bye week so it feels good to be No. 1 in the Atlantic, at least the first time since I've been here.

We'll try to take this momentum and keep playing every game like we need to play.

How do you assess the performance of the defense?
We started slow by not tackling and doing the things we needed to do.

In the second half we tried to play for each other and understood that what we put on tape in the first half is not who we are.

Do you feel like you came out flat?
I wouldn't say flat. We didn't come out with the energy in the first half as we know we can come out with. Every game we need to come out fast.

Did you say something to Darian after the game with how he played?
I said something after the game, before the game, all week... just to let him know I'm here for him. I was proud of him for going out there and playing how he played.

It was definitely sad. I've never experienced it and I pray I don't experience it anytime soon.

It was definitely sad. We all rallied together and let him know we were there for him.
