COMMIT ALERT: Hough 2021 Corner Mario Love Picks NC State
NC State just landed a commitment from Hough (NC) 2021 cornerback Mario Love.
“NC State is a great place to be,” Love told Inside Pack Sports. “I can get on the field early and there are great people at NC State to grow and be around.”
Love originally landed offers from NC State, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Penn State, Tennessee, Louisville, and UNLV, among others, before cutting his list this week to NC State, Louisville, UNLV, and North Carolina.
He developed a strong relationship with the NC State coaching staff, who clearly made Love a priority.
“I talk with NC State a lot,” he previously stated. “Coach McDonald, coach Aughtry-Lindsay, and coach Mitchell... probably daily. We talk about ball, family, and life. It’s a lot at stake, and they tell me where I am with them. They may shoot me some videos and things like that. We’ll talk about where I’m at in the process. I’m high on their board, for sure.”
The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder isn’t the biggest corner, but he makes up for it with aggression and confidence.
“I think you have to bring it on and off the field,” Love said. “You have to compete in life. You have to compete in the weight room... school. Everything is a competition.
“When I bring that to the field, that’s my edge. I’m not the typical 6-foot-1 cornerback, but at 5'10” that competitiveness is what puts me on top. It’s why I'm the player that I am.”
Love is NC State’s third commitment in the 2021 class, joining in-state wide receivers Julian Gray and Jakolbe Baldwin.
Inside Pack Sports will have more shortly from Love on his decision, so stay tuned!
