“Everyone has their different ways of communicating and different ways of being clear. Some lead by example. Some lead more vocally. I feel like Markell is more of a lead-by-example guy. He goes hard every day in practice. He’s one of the last to leave the gym and first in the gym. The younger guys on the team can follow his act to help out. He can definitely be a force for the team.”

“It was a tough win. Against Auburn, we definitely wanted that one, but I feel like the guys did a really good job of focusing in tonight right before the break. I’m glad we could get the win before we go on break.”

“I want to put the basketball down for a little bit, but not too long. If any games are on, I’ll continue to watch basketball, but I just want to clear my mind. I want to come back with a clear mind, get back to practice on Thursday, and get ready to get back in the gym to get better with the team.”

“It was a little bit of load management. I played some heavy minutes at Auburn. A win is a win, and I’m glad we got that."

“We watched some film after the Auburn game, got better, and focused on this team. We knew they were going to come out here and compete, not just lay down. I think we played well tonight.”

“I’m going to Battle Creek to see my family, see my brothers I haven’t seen in a while. I’m just going to kick it. I’m not going to do too much. I’m just going to hang with the family.”

“It’s really important. I don’t get to go home a lot. I moved from Battle Creek when I was a junior in high school, so I don’t get to go home a lot. It’ll be good to see family.”

“Not often, but they get to take off work some games. They’re going to come down here in January when the conference starts. It’ll definitely be good to see them and get some good food. I haven’t had a home-cooked meal in a while, so that’ll be good.”

“I’m pretty sure somebody said something to him. I don’t know who, but I’m pretty sure somebody said something. That’s a special moment right there, so I’m glad he got it."

“The assistant coaches alerted me and told me.”

“They just put me back in.”

“It was the first one I’ve had in college. I had one in high school.”

“It means a lot. I played with Dennis Smith my freshman year and backed him up. Coming out here and having the tempo feels good to me.”

“It definitely snuck up on me a lot. The game was kind of slow today. I really wasn’t into it that much.”

“I’m just going to chill with my family. I’m going to get back home and stay around my family. I’ll also get in the gym and get some shots up."
