Markell Johnson: "I Was Trying To Get It Back"

NC State senior point guard Markell Johnson met with the media after the team's 80-77 road win over UNC Greensboro.

“Get it up before the time went out, that’s the only thing going through my mind.  I tried to get a defensive stop on the other end, but the guy scored, so I was trying to get it back.”

“I do shoot them everyday after practice. When free throw practice ends, I’ll run to halfcourt and throw a shot up.”

“I haven’t made it in practice since the Wisconsin game.”

“I was locked in to that shot.”

“It’s all part of the game... just going back and forth (talking).”

“I came down funny.  I have to start landing on two feet instead of landing on one foot.”

“I didn’t feel like when I fell so I needed to take time and see what was going on.”

“Definitely.  It just felt like it was right.  It felt like it was in time.”

“We hit the table. I don’t know what’s up with those guys, trying to tackle me on the court.”

“I just love games that are dogfights, from the beginning to the end.”

“When the pace is faster, that’s what I like a lot.”

“That’s something I have to start doing. Instead of settling for three’s all the time, I can get to the basket.”

“We’re playing defense. We were pressing. We didn’t do anything we don't ever do, just play our game, that was it.”
