Redshirt Senior Guard C.J. Bryce

On the defensive effort: “That was our point of emphasis going into today’s game. We knew Little Rock was going to come out swinging hard, so we wanted to focus on our defense and get better on that end, and I think we did that.”

On effort during the Alcorn State game: “I wouldn’t say we were going through the motions. We went up against Alcorn State and took our foot off the gas at the end. Finishing the game strong was another point of emphasis tonight.”

On the upcoming competition: “We have a lot of talent and depth on this roster. All respect to Little Rock, getting a chance to play Memphis - I am excited to see the product we put on the floor against them.”

On playing in New York: “It is another basketball game for us. We are excited to be in New York, but it is another game for us and another opportunity for us to get better.”

On the end of the game: “There was not too much being said at the end. I guess he wanted to say a little something. I was facing the crowd, turned around, and I saw he threw me out. I am happy with the game.”

On the defensive effort: “They struggled a lot with pressure and we saw that on film. That was one of our keys and we did that well.”

NC State Forward Jericole Hellems

On having a high-assist game: “It’s always been a part of my game. I’ve just been worried about the wrong things the past few games and worrying about scoring too much. Coach (Keatts) told me to let my game come to me. That’s what I’ve been doing and trying to affect all aspects of the game.”

On throwing lobs to a Manny (Bates) or a D.J. (Funderburk): “Manny (Bates), that’s my roommate. He’s my one-two, and I think our chemistry is great. With D.J. (Funderburk), he’s a great player. He can play off the ball too. Having both of these guys is a great opportunity.”

On focus and determination: “I think coming out we have a good streak going, and Coach (Keatts) has been telling us to just kind of stay on track and come out with intensity and try to finish games strong.”

On good team defense: “Great defense. I think there are things that we can always clean up, but as an overall team effort, I think we did a good job on the defensive end. And just playing hard as we usually do.
