NC State redshirt junior Cary Angeline has been a crucial component of the Wolfpack’s offense. As pieces have been lost to injury and games have ended with defeat, Angeline remains as a resilient force of assurance and composure for this young State team.”

“We’ve got to think of it like each game is a new opportunity,” Angeline said. “Obviously, this season hasn’t gone as planned, but it’s important to get better each game and to take each game as an experience and learning opportunity. We learn from our mistakes and improve into the next week.”

The 6-foot-7 tight end currently leads the team with four receiving touchdowns, and Angeline has already hauled in 23 receptions for 369 yards. With the Wolfpack already cycling through to its third starting quarterback, the former USC Trojan has made his reliability known to redshirt freshman and current starter Devin Leary.

“[Leary and I] have a good chemistry,” Angeline said. “He’s getting better each and every week, and it’s exciting to see him improve. The quarterbacks trust me, and I definitely trust them. I always insure them that I’ve got their backs no matter what."

This week, State will face off with a familiar face on the opposing sideline. Louisville will enter Carter-Finley Stadium with Dwayne Ledford as the Cardinals’ offensive coordinator. Before moving to the state of Kentucky, Ledford coached the Wolfpack’s offensive line and coordinated State’s run game. With Angeline’s role integral with Ledford’s system, their reunion will be bittersweet.

“It’ll be cool,” Angeline said. “I’m happy for him that he got the O.C. job over there. I know he's had some success so far, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing him.”

The next step on the Wolfpack’s journey toward a bowl berth will come on Saturday evening. Louisville will be NC State’s next adversary, and Angeline will be among those in the red and white garb to step up to the challenge. With December football still potentially in the cards, the only direction the Pack needs to look is forward.

“We definitely want to finish strong and get to a bowl game,” Angeline said. “That’s our goal as we get ready for Louisville. The coaches say, ‘Go 1-0 this week.’ We try not to think too far ahead and just take it one game at a time.”
