Several members of the Inside Pack Sports staff predict the winner of the NC State-Boston College matchup.

This is a big game for NC State, as it would be great to be 5-2 heading into the Wake/Clemson part of the schedule To do so, they need to take care of business today.

Offensively, NC State should be able to move the ball through the air or on the ground, and defensively, the Pack should get after new quarterback Dennis Grosel.

The wildcard is BC’s running game... can NC State slow down AJ Dillon?  Well, he had 196 yards and two touchdowns the last time the two teams played at BC in 2017, but NC State won the game.

I think the Pack will do what needs to be done defensively, and the offense hits a couple of chunk scoring plays to seal the deal.

Playing at Boston College always makes me nervous. For whatever reason it always seems very similar to Wake Forest, and typically, State struggles. Add to that State's question marks on offense and it really becomes tough to call.

I'm going to go with State because I just think the offense is going to break out at some point. It will definitely be a dogfight, however.

Here’s the deal: BC is bad and without their starting quarterback Anthony Brown, BUT, they’re at home.  I think at home BC can score in the mid-20s (they’re averaging 32 across their first four home games).

On the flip side you have a NC State team that has scored 13 points and 16 points in its last two games with the 13 coming on the road.  I think the NC State defense shows up and plays well in this game, but this offense hasn’t done much of anything the last couple of outings to make me feel confident they can score mid to high 20’s or low 30’s—especially on the road.

I think BC wins a game that will frustrate State fans for seasons to come.

This is not the game for the Wolfpack to break out of their offensive doldrums, but N.C. State will score some points – especially if the running game makes some waves.

The Eagles will drive into State territory at times, but the Pack will force enough field goal attempts to keep the game within earshot. If you like physical football with game management-style tactics then the annual NC State versus Boston College matchup is akin to a playoff game.

I've felt worse about this game as the week has gone and changed my mind from when we did the podcast. I think this game will require a lot of maturity from NC State, and I'm not sure they have it.

It's also hard for me to see them winning two road conference games, and I expect they beat Georgia Tech in November. The scary thing is all it takes is a fast start for BC and a big play at some point. That's it. Then they have AJ Dillon to take them home and they'll give him 30 carries if need be.

Between the red zone offense and BC getting off to a fast start, I don't think the Pack is able to overcome that in the second half.

The Wolfpack defense continues its solid play and the offense shows improvement.  The Wolfpack quarterbacks will be able to find some holes in the Eagle secondary and get the passing game into gear, continuing to fuel the IPS forums with "discussions.”
