James Smith-Williams: "I'm Fine Now"
NC State redshirt senior defensive end James Smith-Williams is ready for the next challenge: Florida State.
What’s the difference in how you prepare for the two FSU quarterbacks?
The one that came in is more of a passer, and the first one moves around more. They both are good and have a lot of yards. The system fits both well. We are treating them the same and preparing for both.
What’s the secret to beating FSU two years in a row?
We have a little rivalry going with them. It’s passionate to play against them, and they feel the same way. We know the assignments and how to execute to play a good game against them.
How do you feel about the team headed into ACC play?
The ACC is tough. Every game is a dogfight no matter who it is. We have to be ready.
What needs to go right defensively against FSU?
We need to do our job. We’ll be fine if we execute well, stay sound, and set edges.
What happened with your injury?
It was the first drive against Western Carolina. It was a weird shin/calf deal but it’s fine now. I got rolled up on.
