NC State head coach Dave Doeren met with the media one final time before the Wolfpack’s road game at West Virginia.

When you play a team trying to find their mojo, do you ever talk to the guys about how important a fast start is?
We talk about that regardless. You always want to have a good start.

What I told them is we’re playing a very proud program with a bunch of players used to winning a lot of games, in a stadium with a lot of tradition of winning... a great crowd.

We have to handle our business. Whether they find themselves or not, we have to play really good football in a hostile environment.

Do you see this as an opportunity?
Obviously the competition level goes up with the conference we’re playing against and a team, historically, who has been good.

Winning on the road in a stadium that’s sold out is hard to do, so it would be a great step for our program.

Do you try to put more pressure on the quarterback or do what you do?
He’s different than the last couple of guys who have been really mobile.  You try to have your pressure packages and line stunts and things that you do based on mobility and launch points.

Just like every week we’ll have the things we like to do to get after the quarterback, whether it’s pressure or not.

The thing Dave and Tony do a good job of is having a mix of both and not letting the quarterback know what’s coming all the time.

We have to do a good job of disguising things moving around and staying onsides.  They do a hard count and use their cadence well.

Obviously if you do a good job of rushing a guy who is in his third game as a college starter it helps.
