Doeren: "Our Guys Were Going To Find A Way To Win"

Here are some of NC State head coach Dave Doeren's postgame comments following the win over Florida State.

Opening Statement...

You have to give it to Florida State. They came back, worked hard, blocked a punt and made it hard on us.

Two fourth-down stops on defense. I'm so proud of this team.

We didn't come down here to not be aggressive. You don't beat a team like this that wins 87% of their games at home by sitting back and waiting for things to happen. You have to make them happen.

Was it important to get in front and make them chase with a young quarterback?

We always want to be in the lead, but it wouldn't have mattered. Our guys were going to find a way to win today.

Did you wear them down in the heat?

I was hoping so, we weren't very productive but we were able to bleed it out.  The o-line found a way at the end, and Nyheim found a seam and got us that winning first down.

What was it like after the game with your players?

It was euphoric. 

I'm so proud of our coaching staff and so proud of our players. That's why you coach, to be a servant. You're helping them become what they want to become.
