NC State redshirt freshman outfielder/wide receiver Thayer Thomas has been drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 33rd round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
The 6-foot-1, 193-pounder projects to play centerfield and started four games this year for NC State, hitting .222 with one home run and three RBIs.
Thomas is expected to play a major role on the gridiron after totaling 34 catches for 383 yards and three touchdowns in 2018.
