MLB DRAFT: Wilson Gets Selected By Angels
After three years of putting up All-American numbers at the plate and on the diamond, NC State junior shortstop Will Wilson has been picked by the Los Angeles Angels at No. 15 overall. By getting selected in the first round, he joins Trea Turner as the second Wolfpack shortstop picked in the first round in the last six years.
The 2019 Brooks Wallace Award finalist is expected to sign his professional contract. If he does, Wilson ends his career with the Wolfpack with a .313 batting average, a .582 slugging percentage, 39 home runs, 158 runs batted in, and 146 runs scored. The Kings Mountain, N.C. native also leaves State with a .951 fielding percentage, only committing 34 errors on 693 chances.
According to MLB.com, Wilson's selection has a guaranteed value at $3.89 million.
