NC State head coach Dave Doeren met with the media after the 49-16 win over Furman.

Opening Statement...
It's good to get a second straight home win. I really like the way the guys played today.

You know we got our ground game going. A lot of different players involved in that. You know whether it's the o-line or the tight ends. Obviously, the offensive staff did a nice job working in some different things, and it's good to have our starting five offensive linemen back together.

I like the way that we attacked them and came out fast on both sides of football.  That was a  point of emphasis is this week for us. I thought we did that.

We gave up a couple of big plays on their misdirection. We lost our eyes twice in the secondary and outside of that... it's a difficult offense to defend and not giving up a touchdown again in the second half.

Having five rushing touchdowns and scoring forty nine points... it was a great day.

We came out of the game healthy, which is a huge plus for us.  Now we have a chance to move into ACC play. I'm excited for that and our team is as well.

Should you be concerned about some of the defensive breakdowns translating to ACC games or is it their offense?
No.

One of them we had our fifth-string corner in the game in there and they ran a wheel route. He didn't cover it. I'm not worried about that at all.

The other one Jarius Morehead, they hadn't shown it on film, but they had a guy who orbited like he was going around on a pitch and he came back and he took his eyes off the guy. Good scheme by them. New play we hadn't seen them do so good job by them, bad job by us.

That's not a talent thing and I knew we hadn't seen him do so good job on him bad job. But it's not a talent thing, it's just eye discipline. That's part of playing the triple.

You got the running game going today. How big is that for you guys?
I think you know how important that is to me.

To be able to run the ball when you want to run it, matters. If you want to protect a lead or protect your defense... be able to eat some clock, the running game is very important.

It's important to plays you can set up often plays with reverses and play-passes, boots and nakeds... and if you can't run the football those plays aren't as effective.

It's been a process and obviously getting our starting five back out there helped with that. But each week you're going to put things on film you learn from them.

You're going to have chances to improve. We did that today. It is good to see we do this.

You had to be happy for Shawn Boone with the interception.
Yep, he got the game ball.

Obviously for him, with the Florida State game here...
Nobody on our football team works as hard on their ball skills as Shawn Boone. He is catching balls all the time, and he makes plays in football practice.

I was really excited for him and just proud of that group in general on defense forcing three turnovers in the second half.

They are finishing strong right now which says a lot about their condition.

Thoughts on Ryan Finley...
Ryan is in a good zone right now. He's distributing the ball. He's accurate. These guys are making plays. That was a heck of a catch Jay Sam made for him on the post near the goalline.

They are catching the ball for him too, and he's putting it where they can make plays.

I like the rhythm that he's in, and I think Eli has done a nice job of mixing up the short game, the deeper stuff, the screens... just getting different things to stay in rhythm.

The offensive line, outside of the one blitz they ran on our empty formation, protected him well today.

Mike Stevens didn't play...
He could have played today.  I felt like it was risky to play him against a team that's going to cut the entire game in his first game back with a knee.  I didn't think it was smart.  He could have played today, he's great.

There was never any chance he'd be out there. He will be out there next week.

Thoughts on Shawn Boone and dealing with the Hurricane situation...
I think the hurricane in general obviously there's a lot of people affected by it, and he's not the only player, but he's the one the media-wise you guys caught wind of.

There's a lot of people that have lost power or had damage to their homes that have had to evacuate areas and things like that. We just try to tell them that we're here for them and if there's anything we can do.

Some of their parents have come up here and as you know stayed longer probably than normal. I think they've handled it well, and they know that you know the staff is there to support them.

Thoughts on the Jumichael Ramos touchdown...
That was awesome.

Pretty emotional play on the sideline for him and for us.  He's done a great job on our return unit as well. He's captaining that for us right now.

It's awesome... great karma for him. He's worked really hard, he's earned it, and I was happy to see him out there.
