Wes Moore: “They Just Keep Amazing Me”

NC State head coach Wes Moore and several of his players met with the media after the NCAA Tournament win over Kentucky.

“I just couldn’t be prouder of a team or a group of young ladies.  Our two seniors set the tone from the start of the game with their toughness, and this freshman isn’t too bad either.”

“They just keep amazing me.”

“We did a pretty good job against their press. I know we had 16 turnovers but some of those were offensive fouls and tripping fouls.”

“The two seniors, Kiara has been a godsend since she’s been here... she’s helped put us on the map.  DD, I keep saying a lot of kids would have left because she didn’t play a ton her first couple of years but he stuck it out. Wow, what a year she’s having. I’d hate to think of where we’d be without her.”

“They are tough.  Kiara has battled all year. She had a major surgery a couple of years ago, her ankle, and I know it still bothers her some, but she’s such a competitor.”

“We knew we’d have a day off tommorrow and there would be time to recover some so we danced with the ones who brought us.”

“I’m more worried about the things we can control. We spin time in practice shooting... I don’t say a whole lot as long as it’s a good shot.”

“I want kids who can ring the bell and knock shots down.  When they get here we’ll get them to play defense. We definitely try to recruit players capable of hitting shots.”
