NC State head coach Dave Doeren announced today that redshirt freshman cornerback James Valdez will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL in the Marshall game.
"James Valdez did tear his ACL and is out for the year," said Doeren. "It's a bad deal for him, and he'll go through the rehab process now."
Valdez was the Wolfpack's third cornerback in the Marshall game and briefly replaced Johnathan Alston in the lineup, prior to his injury.
NC State hopes to have senior Mike Stevens back from injury this week but his role will be limited. Doeren added that redshirt freshman Bryce Banks and true freshman Chris Ingram, along with Stevens and senior Nick Lacy, will back up starters Johnathan Alston and Nick McCloud against Furman.
"Light some candles and do those types of things," added Doeren. "We can't afford to lose another one."
