NC State Basketball Recruiting
Bates Picks NC State
NC State has landed a commitment from Fayetteville (NC) Northwood Temple center Immanuel Bates. Bates announced his decision this morning at a press conference at his school.
One of the fastest-rising prospects in the 2018 class, Bates started the spring as an unranked recruit and ended the summer a four-star standout.
He picked NC State over offers from Georgetown, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Clemson, UCONN, Oklahoma State, and Purdue among others.
At 6-foot-11 and 215 pounds, Bates is a big-time rim protector. His offensive game needs development, but he is a premier paint defender and finishes well around the rim.
His upside is intriguing to college coaches.
He is now NC State's first commitment in the 2018 class, and is a huge pickup given the Wolfpack will lose senior frontcourts standouts Abdul-Malik Abu and Lennard Freeman after the 2017-2018 season.
Inside Pack Sports will have more on Bates and his decision in the near future so stay tuned!
