C.J. Bryce: "Every Game Is Important For Us"

NC State junior guard C.J. Bryce met with the media to discuss tonight’s game against Syracuse.

 Are there any rules when taking a three-pointer?  Is there a full green light?
If it’s a good shot, in rhythm... if you make it.

How big is it to have confidence going into this game?
It’s going to be big for us.  I feel like Braxton Beverly has done a great job getting his stroke back and knocking down big shots for us.

It’s not necessarily that we have to settle for a three. There will be more threes taken, but we don’t have to settle.

How important was it to get the win this past weekend?
It was big for us; we wanted to emphasize playing as a team and taking out the selfish plays we had earlier in this season.

Now we can build on it.

Does this feel 1/16 of the schedule or bigger?
Every game at this point is big for us. We don’t have any room to drop games, no room for error. Every game is important for us.

Why no room for error?
That three-game losing streak we took a big hit as far as what we’d worked for this season.  Getting that win was big for us and we have to build on that.

Coach talked about their 2-3 zone. How much do you look forward to the chance to play a defense known like that?
It’s a good zone. We’ve played against other zones this season. I feel like we’ve done a great job so far moving the ball into the weak spots of their zone.

Do you see anything different in their zone?
They have more size on the perimeter, that’s the thing I see.  

We have to move the ball and continue to attack the weak spots.

Is transition even more important in this game?
Yes, we want to run more in transition and not really give them a chance to get set up in the zone.

As much as we can push it, we need to.

Why is this team such a good offensive rebounding team?
We’re emphasizing it... rebounding at every position is very important for us and we’ve emphasized it. It’s worked out well for us.

More on three-point shooting...
We have people who can knock down threes and we have scorers... we look forward to making shots.

How much better is this team against the zone when Markell is playing the way he did the other night?
When Markell is aggressive I feel like we’re a better team. I feel like everyone can see that.

Him sitting out those games took a toll on our team and it’s great to have him back. He’s a big piece to our puzzle.
